aol instant messaging
let us take a look at my relationship with aim:
-5th grade to 8th grade was a great time for me. interent was popular, and being able to chat with my friends online even though they were sitting right next to me was the most hip thing we could ever do. there are so many wonderful memories of me running into my room right after school to turn on the computer and double click on the little yellow running man icon and scan through my list of friends to see who was online or who was not. yes, life was complete for me. all those meaningless hours spent away by staring at the screen, hunchbacked, and typing incomprehensible signs that a parent would not be able to interpret was awesome.
however, like all relationships, things began to wind down for us, and i was getting restless. bored. everything was too routine.
so it was farewell to aim, and hello to the rest of the internet world!
-9th grade to 12th grade ( during this time, my 8yr old laptop had crashed and there was no way in the world that i was willing to redownload aim, so i discontinued from the result of laziness ) was a nice time. there were other distractions such as myspace, facebook, xanga, etc. aim was not missed, although there were times when i would do the unthinkable and sign onto aimexpress. however, it was merely business oriented, we were professional to each other. there was no emotional attatchment or feelings between us so all was still well!
i did go on gmailchat, but it was a short fling that was never meant to last.
yes there were some nights when i would sleep and dream of typing meaningless conversations to my friends, writing something witty in my profile, and just reliving the golden moments again. but no, we just werent meant to be.
-13th? grade to Present was short quick and painless. i received a new laptop, and the possibility of redownloading aim and still having everything else on my laptop function properly without any lag flabbergasted me! it was crazytalk i tell you!
this time, aim had more to offer than just different font colors and smileyfaces. you could chat with five people and still only have one open window, the smilyefaces moved!, you could even create your own profile (which sounded a bit dodgy to me…). oh aim, you changed, you changed!
but that change was not enough, and as i am typing now in this blog, you are currently wasting away in my trashicon, to be there forever. oh sure there will be a few flings here and there with aimexpress. but really now, you and i both know that you we will never work out ever again. sorryz.
im not sure if i should be glad that i got rid of one more distraction or sad that i just compared aim and i with two people having a relationship….haha
ANYWAYYYYYYYY,
my favorite oboist made me that. it’s suppose to me…hehehe
